Graduation

Graduation Qualification

  • Students enrolled in 2013 or later - Those who have earned 24 credits of master's degree, 30 credits of doctoral degree or more (based on the Revised Academic Regulations of June 10, 2013) and passed the graduation qualification examination (English and comprehensive examination), and who fall under the following items shall be awarded the appropriate degree.
    • Those who have submitted a thesis claiming the degree for the applicable degree and have passed the thesis/dissertation review
    • In order to obtain a degree without submitting a thesis, you can complete thesis-substitute courses and graduate according to the regulations . ( Only applies to the Master's program in the Graduate School of Welfare Management , Graduate School of International Studies , and Graduate School of General Studies )

Degrees awarded

  • Those who meet the qualifications for graduation shall be awarded the degree and issued a degree certificate.
  • Degree certificates are issued twice a year, in the first semester and the second semester.

English exam: Available every semester for those enrolled for at least one semester (for general graduate students)

Comprehensive examination (General University / School of Welfare Management / International Graduate School - Common)

  • Comprehensive examinations are held twice a year, in April and October, as determined by the Dean of the Graduate School.
  • Eligibility: Enrolled in the 3rd semester of master's program + 15 credits or more, or enrolled in the 4th semester of doctoral program + 24 credits or more
  • Examination subjects: At least three master's courses and four doctoral courses among the major subjects that can be comprehensively evaluated in the field related to the major.
  • Grading is based on a passing score of 70 or higher out of 100 for each subject, and failed subjects can be retaken up to two times per subject.
  • Applicants for thesis substitution in the Graduate School of Welfare Management and the Graduate School of International Studies will be excluded from graduation if they do not pass the comprehensive examination, even if they have completed additional credits.
  • Candidates must submit an application and pay the prescribed application fee.

Thesis/Dissertation

  • Qualifications for submission of thesis/dissertation
    1. 1Those who have registered and completed the required number of credits for each degree program
    2. 2Those who have acquired all required credits for the master's and doctoral degree programs and have a GPA of B (3.0) or higher
    3. 3Those who have passed the graduation qualification examination (English exam and comprehensive exam)
      (Comprehensive exam - General / Common to Graduate School of Welfare Management, English exam - General Graduate School only)
    4. 4Those who have submitted a certificate of completion of a special lecture on research ethics (can submit a certificate of completion of a related special lecture issued after attending an on-campus special lecture on research ethics or an external special lecture on research ethics)
    5. 5Requirements for submission of final doctoral dissertation [ Meeting the criteria for publication in academic journals (candidate journals or higher) ]

Thesis substitution (General Graduate School Master's / Graduate School of Welfare Management)

  • For the master's program in the General Graduate School, students who complete 24 credits or more can claim the master's degree by completing 9 additional credits (3 courses) of thesis substitutes instead of submitting a thesis.
  • For the Graduate School of Welfare Management, students who complete 24 credits or more can claim the master's degree by completing 6 additional credits (2 courses) of thesis substitute courses instead of submitting a thesis.

Research students (Research students after completion) - Applies to students entering in the second semester of 2023

  • Students who have completed their degree program may be enrolled as research students if necessary.
  • Those who have not yet met the deadline for submission of their thesis for research registration and wish to have their thesis/dissertation (work theory) reviewed, and those who need academic records to participate in external research projects and government-supported projects.
  • Those who wish to enroll must submit an application during the prescribed period and pay 10% of the tuition for the semester.
